Contracts are Critical

The LHBA GL Trust has successfully resolved over 750 Louisiana construction defect claims since it’s inception in 2003.  One of the biggest factors in how the case will ultimately resolve is whether there are quality contracts in place with your clients and your subcontractors. What makes all this more challenging is that, depending on whether the new home is custom (financed by the homeowner) or speculative (financed by the home builder), there can be numerous versions of contracts needed for each situation.

The good news is that the LHBA GL Trust provides specimen contracts to cover many of these situations.  The specimen agreements are a good place to start as you make your contracts fit your specific practices and needs.  The other great news is that if you’re a member of the GL Trust, we will help you get started with or fine-tune your contract by paying for up to 2 hours of legal consultation with a Louisiana law firm that specializes in residential construction.
